Beit She’an is a small and welcoming city located in the southern Galilee along the Jordan River Valley. This diverse local community is well known for its warmth, hospitality, and familial atmosphere. With a population comprised of immigrants from North Africa, the Middle East, the Former Soviet Union, and Ethiopia, living in Beit Shean offers the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures and Jewish traditions in an intimate way.

Beit She’an is surrounded by fascinating ruins and exceptional beauty. Beit She’an National Park includes the extensively unearthed ruins of an ancient metropolis dating back 6,000 years. The Sachne, or Gan Hashelosha National Park, is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world – in fact it was once chosen by Time Magazine as one of the 20 most beautiful sites in the world. Sometimes referred to as the real-life location of the Garden of Eden, the natural pools of the Sachne are shaded by lush palm trees and fed by warm spring water flowing from the Gilboa Mountains above.

Beit She’an truly feels like a small town. You can explore the entire town on foot, or using the bike we provide; you’ll notice that many of the locals will sit outside and, often, you’ll be invited to Shabbat and holiday meals by members of the community.

Beit Shean is located at the connection between the Jezreal Valley and the Jordan Valley – one of the most fertile regions of Israel. The valley is well known for its warm climate, which is an advantage in the winter. The Sea of Galilee and the city of Tiberias are located just to the north. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are a two-and-a-half hour bus ride away. Beit Shean also borders the Kingdom of Jordan and is home to the main border crossing that connect the two countries.
